Northern Lights Secondary School
Northern Lights Secondary School offers grade 9 to 12 programs for Moosonee students and off-reserve Moose Factory students. Our school population is approximately 180 students.
NLSS has fantastic students and staff. Each student and staff are a member of one of our four House Teams (AMISK - Beaver, ATIK - Caribou, NISKA - Goose, and WABUSK - Polar Bear) Houses are used to organize students in teams; these teams earn Husky points and compete as 'house' teams for special events. Our Husky points system encourages students to participate more fully in school and students earn points by: participation in intramurals, clubs and special events, attendance, and success in academics. Points are tallied at the end of each month, and students who have earned enough points get 'Husky Bucks' that they can spend in a variety of places in the school. Points for individual students are also added together to give a total for their House.
